This Privacy Policy explains how personal data may be processed when you visit Wanouzhou. Wanouzhou is a practical Europe guide for Chinese-speaking travellers.

The website can be used for reading general travel information without creating an account, without signing in. A self-hosted contact form is available for optional messages.

The website currently uses a simple technical structure with a self-hosted contact form and a self-hosted visitor counter. If advertising, embedded videos, maps or other third-party services are activated, the relevant sections below explain how such services may process data.

When you visit this website, technical access data may be automatically processed by the web server. This can include the requested page, date and time of access, transferred data volume, browser type, operating system, referrer page, IP address and technical status codes.

This website uses a small self-hosted visitor counter under the path /counter/ to measure real website use. The counter is loaded by JavaScript from the same domain and sends the visited path, the page title and, if available, the referrer to a local PHP endpoint on this website.

The counter does not set cookies, does not use third-party analytics providers and does not store IP addresses in clear text. For daily unique visitor counting, the IP address and User Agent are combined with a secret server-side salt and the date, then stored only as a hash. The raw IP address is not written into the counter data files.

The counter stores aggregated daily numbers, page counts and page views. Server access logs may still be created by the hosting provider as described above. The counter totals endpoint only returns aggregated totals and is protected by a token. The internal statistics page is also protected by a token. Bots, crawlers, preview tools and prefetch requests are filtered as far as reasonably possible through JavaScript, User Agent checks and prefetch detection. Automated access cannot be completely excluded for technical reasons.

This website contains links to external websites, including official government sources, embassies, consulates, transport providers, airlines, tax refund providers and other third-party pages.

When you open an external link, the privacy policy of the external website applies. Wanouzhou has no control over how external websites process personal data.

You can contact the website provider by email or by using the contact form on this website. Name and email are optional in the form; the message text is required. If you enter an email address, it is used only to reply to the request.

For this purpose, the server temporarily processes technical data such as request time, browser identifier, source page and a hashed IP range. IP addresses are not stored in plain text and no cookies are set by the contact form.

Form messages are sent to the website provider by the server mail function and may also be stored as a backup in a protected server directory. Contact messages may be retained for as long as necessary to handle the request, document the communication and comply with applicable retention duties.

Wanouzhou uses some affiliate links or commercial references, for example links to hotel, train ticket or travel product booking platforms. If you click such a link, the destination website or affiliate network may process technical data and may recognise that you came from this website.

Booking and payment take place on the respective third-party platform. After you open an external booking link, the privacy policy, cookie rules and booking terms of that platform apply.

Some third-party services, especially advertising, video, map, analytics or social media services, may process data in countries outside Switzerland, the European Union or the European Economic Area.

If such services are activated, this Privacy Policy will identify the providers and describe applicable transfer safeguards where required.
